Respect for privacy is a key feature of the CCTV system that has recently been installed at Chichester Gate Leisure Park by Kent and Sussex Security Limited.
The VCL (Video Controls Limited) dome cameras that form the backbone of the system, feature programmable privacy zones that can be set to blank out certain areas. These areas might be neighbouring houses for example, or the windows of private residential apartments above commercial properties.
A preset view is used to define the area to be blanked. The blanked area then scales to remain the same size on the view as the operator pans past the blanked area, or zooms in and out from it. The "Gold" version of the camera has 28 privacy zones, so that more than one zone can be joined to cater for particularly complex shapes.
