CCTV Systems and the Data Protection Act 1998
If your CCTV system is likely to record members of the public, then it is likely that you will need to register your system with the Data Registrar, and follow a number of guidelines concerning signage, the use of recordings etc.
Registration can be carried out on line at the Information Commissioners Office, and at the time of writing (August 2011) costs £35.
